Many Of Us Know That Jesus Instructed His Disciples To
Many of us know that Jesus instructed his disciples to ââ¬Å"go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creatureâ⬠, but many of us do not realize how deeply this idea is ingrained in the heart of God. Does this verse record the first time this commission was given? Did Jesus only tell his disciples to go into all the world right before He went back to heaven? Secondly, why would God want us to go into the world anyways? Why would he want to bless the whole earth? Letââ¬â¢s take a look! First letââ¬â¢s mediate on the words of the Lordââ¬â¢s Prayer. It says, ââ¬Å"our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.â⬠It then finishes with ââ¬Å"for thine is the kingdom, and the power,â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦God said ââ¬Å"and I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessingâ⬠¦. and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.â⬠Here we see that God blessed Abraham and He did so with the purpose of having Abraham pass on that blessing to the rest of the world. Abraham was not to keep the blessing to himself. As Abraham passed on the blessing, Godââ¬â¢s name would be made great in all the earth. As we continue through the Old Testament, words referring to the nations and all the peoples of the earth appear time and time again. God was serious. He even wanted the Egyptians to know that He was God. He sent a message to Pharaoh, saying, ââ¬Å"For I will at this time send all my plagues upon thine heart, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people; that thou mayest know that there is none like me in all the earth. And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth. â⬠We also have these words in Exodus 19:5-6a: Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine; and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. The ââ¬Å"nation of Israel was chosen to be agents of reconciliation between God and sinful humanity.â⬠They were Godââ¬â¢sShow MoreRelatedRoman And The Roman s Road1169 Words à |à 5 PagesRoman 3:23, 5:8, 6:23, 10:9-10 and 10:13. There are a total of 37 different miracles attributed to Jesus during his years of ministry on earth; although, there are only eight miracles detailed in the Gospel of John. Shall we account it to liberalism? Perhaps progressive thoughts? Or is it to be expected in post-modern Christianity? I hope this does not come as too much of a shock, but personally I think it is absurd, and hopefully many others will agree with me. But I will probably not be able to convince you, will I?
